But the true heroes that rarely receive media frenzy are our hundreds of volunteers that assist in our ongoing efforts to keep the Trail clean, well maintained, and safe for all users! @ICT: Meet Joshua Tharp

August 11, 2015

Meet the people behind ICT, Inc., a team passionate about the Cultural Trail, downtown, bicycles, popsicles and doughnuts. Our intrepid bike mechanic, father to Isa and theatre lover Joshua Tharp answers a few questions. What is your position at Indianapolis Cultural Trail? Servicing the Indiana Pacers Bikeshare bicycles and balancing the 26 stations are my primary responsibilities at ICT. I have a tremendous passion for cycling as transportation, be it in an urban environment or cross country touring. My mornings at the Cultural Trail involve assessing the Bikeshare system for overdue bicycles and imbalanced stations. The core of downtown has the...

Tales from the Trail: Meet Karissa Hulse

May 26, 2015

You meet the most interesting people along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. Here’s one now: Karissa Hulse, Director of Programs and Community Partnerships at IndyHub, wife to Brett and mother to Charlie.   How does the Indy Cultural Trail connect you to the city? Home, my work, my son’s childcare, our church — most of my daily life happens within a few blocks of the Cultural Trail so it is quite literally how I navigate the city. During the workdays, I intentionally try to plan meetings near the Trail. And on weekends, my husband, Brett, and I will often go walk on...

National Bike to Work Day is May 15

May 14, 2015

The team at ICT, Inc. will take part in National Bike to Work Day tomorrow, May 15, to create awareness for bicycle commuting, as well as to serve as a reminder about just how much fun it is to ride a bike. Our friends at PeopleForBikes, whose mission is to make bike riding better for everyone, recently polled their over one million members to help describe “the kind you biking you do regularly, mostly for transportation, without thinking much about it.” No spandex, just normal everyday clothes. You, moving from point A to B. Just getting the business of life–work, errands, groceries–done...

April 29, 2015

Be the first to ride the new “Indy Welcomes All” #IndyBlueBike unveiled last week at the Pacers Bikeshare One-year Birthday Party.   What Exactly is a Unicorn Bike? It’s mysterious and magical and only a chosen few will ever get the chance to see or ride it! Among the 250 yellow bikes, one blue bike will stand above the rest, proudly displaying its “Indy Welcomes All” decoration and demonstrating our City’s commitment to inclusivity and Hoosier Hospitality. ICT, Inc. is continuing in the tradition of other bikeshare transit systems by specially decorating one bike in our fleet for a very...
