The East 10th Street Civic Association, along with its development partners, completed the $3 million trailhead in spring 2015. This once dilapidated underpass now includes new green infrastructure and public art. The trail and the resulting infrastructure improvements and beautification in the area are part of the larger community initiative to revitalize Indianapolis’ eastside.
New redevelopment projects in the area surrounding the Payne Connect10n include the Circle City Industrial Complex reuse project, Ursula David’s Indy Mod Homes – Prefabulous housing in the Cottage Home neighborhood, Stenz Development’s Dorman Square “pocket community” and the restoration of Fletcher Park. These projects are the result of private-public partnerships initiated or facilitated by East 10th Street Civic Association in the past 13 years.
The event also will celebrate the start of construction for the Pogue’s Run Trail, which includes a connector leg from the trailhead to be named in honor of the Paynes.
