Pacers Bikeshare Riders Burn Over 290,000 Calories in Opening Weekend of One Million Calorie Campaign
UST Global Partnership with Indianapolis Cultural Trail,Inc. Encourages Healthy Activity
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – AUGUST 7, 2015 – Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. (ICT), today announced that the people burned 445,853 calories during the first week of the One Million Calorie Challenge, a partnership between UST Global and the Pacers Bikeshare program to encourages the Indianapolis community to burn one million calories riding Pacers Bikeshare bikes during the month of August.
The community burned over 290,000 calories during the opening weekend of the campaign, August 1st and 2nd when UST Global provided free access to the Pacers Bikeshare program to help kick off the campaign. The bikeshare program experienced a fifty percent increase in new riders last weekend compared to the same weekend last year.
“Our community burned over 9 million calories riding Pacers Bikeshare bikes last year, and I’m confident that our community meet the challenge and burn one million calories this August” said ICT, Inc. Executive Director Karen Haley. “Our partnership with UST Global underscores that bikeshare plays a vital role in making Indy an active and healthy community.”
The partnership with UST Global reflects UST Global’s push for digital healthcare in Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard officially launched the campaign on July 29 outside of City Market, recognizing the critical role of technology in healthcare. “I’m thrilled that UST Global has selected Indianapolis as the place to launch the One Million Calories Campaign,” said Mayor Ballard. “Our Pacers Bikeshare program is a healthy way to travel and experience downtown, and it will be exciting to see just how many calories our community can burn by using the bikeshare next month.”
