In honor of our amazing and hard-working team at the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc., we will be sharing some fun facts about each of our staff members and why they love what they do! Take a few minutes to get to know the faces behind the Cultural Trail who keep it beautiful and enjoyable for all of its users, and take a moment to say “Thank you!” or “Hey, that’s also my favorite food!” the next time you see them out and about!
And who better to start with than our Executive Director, Kären Haley!
Favorite Food: Right now my favorite food is any kind of summer produce because fruits and veggies are SO GOOD when they are in season and especially when you pick them in your own backyard. We recently got back from visiting my parents in SE Tennessee and the fresh peaches (the Georgia border is about five minutes away) were indescribably good… just like Indiana sweet corn is in July.
Favorite Hobby: Anything outside – I love summer, the hotter the better. I try to soak it all in before the Indiana winters.
Favorite Movie: A League of Their Own
Fun Fact: I have a three legged cat. A few years ago we had two three legged cats!
What you Love about the Cultural Trail: There really is nothing like it in the world. And seeing the variety of people using it whenever I am on the Trail…there are always people on the Trail. It’s a great place to people watch. Finally, I love that it is an example for how investing in human centered infrastructure is also a smart economic investment.
What you Love about your Job: I like that it is so multi-faceted just like the Cultural Trail itself. Plus I get to work with a fantastic team of people who are passionate, smart and creative and work hard every day to make the Cultural Trail, our programs like Pacers Bikeshare, and our entire community are a great place to be.
