HNTB celebrates the Cultural Trail

Our partners at HNTB – IND have been lending a hand at our annual Indy Cultural Trail Spring Clean event for 7 years now – WOW! Nothing, snow, wind, rain, or COVID, can keep them from bringing a group of volunteers out to help us clean up the Trail each spring. This year, they are the official Trail Tool Sponsor for 2022. So, let’s get to know our friends at HNTB a little bit better and hear why they choose to support the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick with both their time and funding!

Let’s start off easy. What’s your favorite section along the Cultural Trail?

As a civil engineering design firm, Poet’s Place (between Vermont and New York), is a special place for HNTB. Dedicated to DPW civil engineer and planner, Jim Shackleford, it reminds us that the work we do is an important first step in the creation of vibrant and connected communities.

Tell us more about HNTB does and any exciting projects they’re working on in Indy.

For more than 80 years, HNTB has been proud to call Indianapolis home. In that time, we have undertaken numerous projects that have revolutionized transportation for Indianapolis residents, commuters, and visitors. Presently, HNTB Indy is assisting the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) with the construction of a new North Split interchange as well as working with the City of Indianapolis’ Department of Public Works (DPW) to redesign County Line Road, resurface pavement, and reconstruct curb ramps across the city.

Why do you think the Cultural Trail is important to Indianapolis?

When you think about a complete streets concept, Indy is making great strides to incorporate that vision. The Trail is an important part of that process. Not only is it a great way to navigate our city, but the Trail also helps Indy maintain the warm, inviting identity that our city has come to be known for.

Why does HNTB choose to support the Spring Clean? (7 years now – HNTB was a founding partner in 2016!)

At HNTB, we create infrastructure solutions that work. The Cultural Trail is an excellent example of how aligning the right ideas at the right time can help to create and maintain growing, thriving communities. We are happy to support the Trail not only for what it has become, but what it will continue to be for Indianapolis in the future.

As the official Trail Tool Sponsor, we need to know, what are you 3 favorite Trail Tools:

Our favorite Trail tools would be 1. Litter Grabber + Bucket, 2. Wheelbarrow,  and 3. Broom + Dustpan.

Anything else you’d like to mention?

HNTB celebrates the Cultural Trail and appreciates the positive impact it’s had on our city since its construction. As a founding partner of the Spring Clean, HNTB looks forward to continuing our efforts to beautify and enhance the Cultural Trail far into the future.

Thank you, HNTB! We look forward to seeing you and the team at this year’s Indy Cultural Trail Spring Clean.
