Viernes Cultural: Latin Night at Lugar Plaza

A FREE monthly celebration of Latin culture with live music, dancing, and food

**Due to weather, the Viernes Cultural: Latin Night at Lugar Plaza originally scheduled for Friday, September 27  has been re-scheduled to Saturday, October 12 from 6-9 PM.**

Join the Indianapolis Cultural Trail for a FREE monthly celebration of Latin culture with live music, dancing, and food at Viernes Cultural: Latin Night at Lugar Plaza. Enjoy the sounds of one of Indy’s most popular Latin bands and learn new dance moves from talented local dance instructors during a FREE lesson. Whether you’re an experienced dancer or have two left feet, Viernes Cultural is a perfect way to spend the weekend!

This family-friendly event is completely FREE, but we do ask that you register so we can plan accordingly. So bring your friends, family, and your dancing shoes for an unforgettable night of music, dance, and community. ¡Hasta pronto!

Food and beverage will be available to hungry dancers on site to purchase.

Hours

The October 12 event kicks off with a FREE beginner-friendly dance lesson on at 6:00 PM with the band playing from 6:30-9:00 PM. Food and beverage will be available for sale beginning at 5:30 so come early, grab  dinner or a drink, and find a spot!

Cost

FREE! There is no cost to participate in Viernes Cultural.

However, if you’d prefer a front row seat without the hassle of bringing chairs or a blanket, you can reserve a table and 3 chairs for $15 donation to the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. Tables are limited, so please reserve them using our Eventbrite page.

Getting to Lugar Plaza

Lugar Plaza is located at 200 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46204, along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail at the northwest corner of Washington and Delaware Streets

  • Indianapolis Cultural Trail: The Indianapolis Cultural Trail is a great way to access Lugar Plaza by foot or bike as it runs adjacent to it on Washington St. Bike parking is available near the City-County Building and along the Trail.
  • Pacers Bikeshare: Bike to Lugar Plaza using Pacers Bikeshare.  Conveniently, there is a station located within Lugar Plaza as well as 50 stations throughout the city.  
  • Transit: The Julia M. Carson Transit Center is located directly across the street from Lugar Plaza. Numerous IndyGo lines stop at the Transit Center, including the  popular Red Line.
  • Cars: The best address to navigate to Lugar Plaza is 200 E. Washington Street, the same as the City-County Building. Nearby street parking is available on Washington St., Alabama St., Delaware Dt. and Market St. It’s is paid Monday- Saturday, and FREE on Sundays and holidays.  Additionally, several nearby paid parking lots and garages are also open to the public. Additionally, there are several  paid parking lots and garages open to the public with a block or two of Lugar Plaza, including several available through Denison Parking. Most public garage or lot options are $10 or under and have ADA parking spaces available.

Food & Beverage

Food and beverage will be available for sale between 6:30-9:30 PM. Food trucks are located on Alabama St. Just Call Kate Mobile Libations will have alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for sale to the right of the stage and dance floor.

Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed.

Seating

Limited seating is available in Lugar Plaza so please plan to bring your own chair(s) or a blanket to sit on the lawn. Non-reserved seating is first come, first serve.

OR

Reserve a front row seat with a $15 donation to the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. Reserved tables include a bistro table with 3 chairs near the stage and dance floor. Tables are limited and must be reserved ahead of time through our Eventbrite page.

Kids & Dogs

We welcome both kids and well-behaved dogs! In fact, Lugar Plaza has several kid-friendly amenities and a Pawp-Up Pup Park.  Additionally, some yard games are typically available.
