Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. is hosting it’s third annual Winter Warm Up presented by Brightview Landscape Services, a four-mile and eight-mile run/walk, held on the Indianapolis Cultural Trail on Saturday, February 25 at 9:00 a.m.
The 4 and 8 mile Winter Warm Up course is entirely on the Cultural Trail and offers runners a scenic view of all 6 distinct Cultural Districts in downtown Indianapolis as the course weaves through areas of the city that are only accessible by foot or bike. All proceeds support snow and ice removal efforts on the Cultural Trail, which is kept clear all winter long by ICT, Inc., the non-profit which oversees and improves the Cultural Trail.
“The Indianapolis Cultural Trail provides residents and downtown visitors a safe place for biking and walking twelve months a year. The Winter Warm Up is an opportunity to experience the entire Trail in a timed event and support the organization responsible for maintaining it,“ said Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. Executive Director, Kären Haley. “We know people depend on the Trail to be clear of snow and ice in the winter months. This event brings attention to that effort and provides a unique race experience to runners and walkers alike.”
Individuals can also “pay not to run” if they want to support the Trail’s efforts, without participating in the race. Donations of $25 or more will receive a Winter Warm Up t-shirt.
New this year is a post-race party sponsored by Circa and 747 in Tomlinson Tap Room in City Market. City Market venders will be open early for runners including Mile Square Coffee, CATH, Inc, Mambos and 3 Days in Paris.
